Pastor Derrick is a native to the Richmond area and has spent his childhood growing up in Powhatan County. Prior to coming to Amelia Baptist in October 2015, he served with three other congregations. From 2007-2008 he worked as the Youth Pastor at Old Powhatan Baptist Church in Powhatan, Virginia. While in seminary, Pastor Derrick spent two years as the Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church of Cleves in Cincinnati, Ohio. And recently, he served on staff at Beaverdam Baptist in Hanover, Virginia as the Pastor to Students.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2008. In December 2012, Derrick earned his Master of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky.

Pastor Derrick is married to his beautiful wife Amanda. And together they have been blessed with two daughters, Eliana and Naomi, and one son, Isaac.
