PASTOR DAVID AND HELEN SLAYTON

David Slayton, Pastor at Amelia Baptist Church, is a passionate leader dedicated to spreading the gospel and nurturing spiritual growth. He actively partners with various sports ministries, using athletics as a powerful tool to connect with and inspire young adults. As the founder and director of the South Hampton Roads Mission Project (SHRMP), he has created impactful outreach opportunities that serve both local communities and the broader mission field. Under his guidance, Amelia Baptist continues to flourish, with a growing congregation and a renewed focus on leading people to Christ. His ministry reflects a deep commitment to evangelism, discipleship, and transformative service in Amelia, Virginia! His wife Helen is also an integral part of our church, as director of our WMU and head of the preschool department.

THE GOSPEL

The gospel (good news) is the very bedrock of why we are a local church. It is by our wholehearted trust in Jesus' perfect life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection that we are forgiven of our sin, welcomed into the family of God, and are given eternal life. This gospel is the central truth that has unified us a local body of believers here in the heart of Amelia, VA. And it has sustained us since our founding in 1914. The gospel means everything to us and we want it to mean everything to you as well.
