We are excited to welcome David Slayton as our new Pastor! Having been a summer youth minister here in the late '80s, he is no stranger to Amelia. Since then, he has served continuously as a pastor throughout the state of Virginia. He, along with his wife, Helen, has worked extensively with community missions through youth sports ministry, jobs programs, childrens' ministry, and is the founder and director of the South Hampton Roads Missions Project (SHRMP). Pastor David has a heart for church revitalization and for multi-generational and multi-ethnic needs, and we look forward to his leadership in moving us forward in outreach. Please join us in warmly welcoming David and Helen to Amelia Court House, VA !
We are thankful that the Lord has directed you to our church website and we hope that you will be able to get to know a little about who we are as Amelia Baptist - our vision, beliefs, leadership, ministries, and mission partnerships. And if you have any questions, please feel free to contact the church office.
The Gospel
The gospel (good news) is the very bedrock of why we are a local church. It is by our wholehearted trust in Jesus' perfect life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection that we are forgiven of our sin, welcomed into the family of God, and are given eternal life. This gospel is the central truth that has unified us a local body of believers here in the heart of Amelia, VA. And it has sustained us since our founding in 1914. The gospel means everything to us and we want it to mean everything to you as well.
Our Vision & Mission
In our pursuit to be a church that reflects the biblical teachings of the New Testament, ABC simply exists to glorify God by being faithful to the task of making disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ. And we believe that this is primarily done through....
-John 17:20-23, Acts 2:42-47, Eph.4:1-6, Heb.10:24-25
-The Word of Christ (gospel) unites us in love as the family of God
-John 15:1-5;17:17-18, Eph.3:14-19, Col.2:6-7, Heb.6:1-2, 1 Peter 1:22-2:3
-The Word of Christ (gospel) deepens our love for God and for one another
-Matt.28:16-20, Acts 1:8, Rom.10:14-17
-The Word of Christ (gospel) calls us to go and proclaim good news to a world darkened by sin
